Blue Cheese and Bacon Burger

Serves 4 / Prep Time: 5 minutes / Cook Time: 20 minutes

Burgers are an American classic. Rather than the usual Cheddar we’re taking it to the next flavor level with pungent blue cheese and salty, crunchy bacon. After all, even a classic can be improved with the addition of bacon, right?

Tools

Large skillet with lid

Tongs

Mixing bowl

Metal spatula

Ingredients to Have:

8 slices bacon

1 pound ground beef

1/3 cup blue cheese, crumbled

hamburger buns

1.    Place the bacon strips in a large skillet. Bring to medium-high heat and cook the bacon until crispy.

2.    Remove the bacon from the pan and lay on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess grease.

3.    Divide the ground beef into four equal size round patties, approximately 5 inches in diameter.

4.    Using the bacon drippings in the skillet, fry the hamburger patties over medium-high heat until they are medium, about 5 minutes, flipping halfway through.

5.    One minute before the burgers are done, top each with blue cheese. Cover with a lid until the cheese melts, about 2 minutes.

6.    Place the burgers on a paper towel-lined plate to soak up any excess grease.

7.    Place the burgers on the buns and top each with two slices of bacon.

Beyond the Basics: To prevent your burger from shrinking too much when you fry it, press an indentation in the middle of the raw burger.
